Story Lab – National Summer Reading Challenge

Monday 2nd July until Friday 14th September

We have signed up with the Reading Agency to take part in this year’s ‘Story Lab’ summer reading challenge so your children can reinforce their reading skills learnt at school and discover the joy of reading. The challenge is for your child to read 6 books during the school holidays. They receive a reward for every book they read and a medal and certificate if they complete the whole 6 book challenge.

The ‘Story Lab’ theme links in with the Olympic cultural theme of different countries getting together and celebrating their differences. In the library throughout the holidays we will have special events focusing on different countries’ traditional tales.  (Details of dates and times will be available nearer the time)

You can sign up and start reading any time from Monday 2nd July. The deadline for completing the challenge is Friday 14th September.
The ‘Story Lab’ challenge is for children aged 5-10 years.

For younger children
We have the Bookstart Book  Crawl scheme. This runs all year so you can start now – just ask for details at the enquiry desk.

For older children and teenagers we will be organising a different book challenge called ‘Team Teen Read’.
